First In






I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Bozrah Brush Fire 04-24-14

Mid-day Bozrah Fire was dispatched to Brush Hill RD fore a reported 20x20 area on fire. Engine 126 arrived and found a 40' strip on the side of the road burning along with some dead tree's. The winds were 10-20+ mph. BFD had the fire under control in a short time.

Colchester 2nd Alarm 04-18-14

Around 13:40 KX dispatch started getting multiple calls for a house fire In the area of 120 O'Connell Rd. and Dispatched Colchester Fire, car 128 Could see the smoke and called for a 2nd alarm and tankers. On arrival heavy fire was showing from the 2nd floor and in a short time broke though the roof. A transitional fire attack utilizing heavy lines was ordered. After knockdown crews entered the dwelling for overhaul. Command requested 2 extra engines a 2nd FAST and additional tankers. One firefighter was treated for minor injuries. The fire is under control in a few Hrs and under investigation.

Gales Ferry 2nd Alarm 04-14-14

At 13:20 R-1 called Ledyard Dispatch to report a working fire at 15 Chapman Ln, They notified him that they just received the call. R-1 found heavy fire taking hold of a 2.5 story home. He requested M/A, first due stretched a  2.5 hand line to knock the heavy fire conditions, Crews worked the building as command requested, 2 extra engine companies. In about a hr, the fire was under control. Ledyard FMO is investigating the fire.

Norwich 2nd Alarm +, 4-13-14

Around 0810 Norwich Fire was dispatched to the area of Washington St. and Lincoln Ave, for a reported structure fire with people trapped, Several more reports continued in before arrival. Battalion 1 arrived and found a large 2.5 story apartment building with heavy fire showing from 2nd floor and attic area (converted to living space). A 2nd alarm was requested. Crews searched, vented and placed lines into operation on all floors. As conditions deteriorated, Car 1 requested an extra 1&1 (engine & Ladder). Crews worked the building until the fire took over the building, Command evacuated the building and added HT-6 for additional water supply. They worked the fire for about 4hrs. The building sustained heavy damage and the cause is under investigation. All occupants were accounted for.

Montville Brush fire 04-07-14

Montville Departments and M/A operated for several hrs after a call around 11:30 reporting a brush fire under the 115000 volt electrical lines, Command requested the power secured, this took about and hour before it was confirmed off. The fire burned around 10 acres into the woods. Tankers were requested for water supply along with several area brush trucks. Crews worked for several hours on the hot spots.

Mystic Ct.W/F 04-06-14

Mystic fire was dispatched to Jackson ave for a reported garage fire with reports of an injured person. Crews found smoke showing and a active fire along with an injured occupant. The fire was placed under control in about 30 mins and the injured person transported.
