First In

I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.

As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Norwich 2nd Alarm +, 4-13-14

Around 0810 Norwich Fire was dispatched to the area of Washington St. and Lincoln Ave, for a reported structure fire with people trapped, Several more reports continued in before arrival. Battalion 1 arrived and found a large 2.5 story apartment building with heavy fire showing from 2nd floor and attic area (converted to living space). A 2nd alarm was requested. Crews searched, vented and placed lines into operation on all floors. As conditions deteriorated, Car 1 requested an extra 1&1 (engine & Ladder). Crews worked the building until the fire took over the building, Command evacuated the building and added HT-6 for additional water supply. They worked the fire for about 4hrs. The building sustained heavy damage and the cause is under investigation. All occupants were accounted for.
