I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Lebanon 2nd Alarm 02-26-15

Lebanon and M/A responded to a reported basement fire at 47 Williams Crossing RD . First due companies encountered heavy fire conditions in the basement spreading to the first floor. Crews placed a blitz fire in operation at the garage door area, along with several hand-lines. Tankers were added to the incident. Fire took hold of the building and the IC ordered evacuation of the building for defensive operations. NFI the fire is under investigation.

Taftville Truck fire 02-21-15

At 07:55, Taftville fire was dispatched to Bob's warehouse for a reported truck fire next to the building, reported from across the street. TFD arrived to find a cab of box truck at the loading dock on fire. Building occupants reported smoke in the building, Command requested one engine from Occum to back fill the assignment, due to an engine being out of service. The fire was contained to the cab of the truck.



Submarine Base New Haz-mat/Rescue

 Sunday Feb 22nd the Submarine Base Fire Department Groton Ct. will be placing in service Squad 67, a 2014 KME

Manchester Car fire 02-20-15

Manchester, Engine 1 operated at 205 Spencer St for a SUV with an engine compartment fire 22:09 hrs.

Yantic MVA 02-20-15

Mid afternoon Yantic was dispatched to I-395 SB between exits 82-81 for a 3 car MVA, Moderate damage to several car with multiple injuries were found. Yantic and American personnel packaged and transported them to Backus Hospital. NFI


 

Canterbury W/F 02-20-15


Canterbury fire and M/A responded to 71 N Canterbury Rd for a chimney fire with extension, crews encountered fire rolling across the ceiling on the second floor for the first in crew. Extensive overhaul of second floor and attic.Crew brought the fire under control in a short time.


Waterbury 2nd alarm, 2-18-15

Waterbury fire worked this 2nd alarm  at 990 Meriden Rd, a commercial storage building at 13:00. The storage unit had heavy fire conditions running the building. Crews worked the fire for several hrs, the building was torn down to bring it under control.



 

Manchester W/F 02-20-15

Manchester fire responded to 61 Theresa Rd for a raised ranch with a reported garage fire companies found a double bay garage under the house well involved. NFI

Preston W/F 02-11-15

Preston was dispatched to 55 Miller Rd for a house fire P1 and Eng 2 from Norwich found the first floor heavily involved with ammo going off in the building. Tankers were requested and crews went defensive as the home became fully involved. NFI, the fire is under investigation.

Lebanon W/F 02-03-15

Lebanon fire w/MA was dispatched to 301 Cook Hill Road for a attic fire at 11:35. On arrival a working fire was transmitted as fire showing from the roof. Crews had the fire under-control in a short time,with moderate damage to the building. The fire is under investigation.

Southington W/F 02-01-15

Southington fire was dispatched to Southington Auto 1079 Queen St. For a fire alarm, first due transmitted a working fire At 16:52.Fire was showing from the bays of the building, Crews worked the fire in the defensive mode until the main body for fire was knockdown. NFI
