First In






I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

North Windham, 2nd Alarm 07-21-17

Around 08:30 North Windham Fire and M/A responded to 503 North Windham Rd, for a reported kitchen fire. engine 101 arrived to find fire showing from the "B" side of the building. A 2nd alarm was requested, along with tankers. In a short time crews knocked down the main body of fire. With the void spaces the fire worked its way up to the attic for a few minutes, crews knocked it down and overhauled the building. The fire departments operated for several hrs on-scene.

Scotland 3rd Alarm, 07-04-17

Scotland and M/A responded to 25 Murphy Hill RD, for a large barn on fire. Company's arrived to find a 3 story barn well involved. With several exposures effected. Over the next hr, tankers and more man-power was added, the fire also set a field on fire near the barn. The farm was converted into a Vineyard a few years back. The barn and a exposure or two was a total loss.

Taftville, 3rd+ Alarms. 07-03-17

(Info from TFD) At 05:25hrs this Morning, Norwich 911 dispatch started fielding multiple 911 calls reporting a building fire at 1-3 South 2nd Ave. Car-2 arrived immediately and declared a working fire. A 3rd Alarm was requested which brought the following departments Occum, Yantic, City of Norwich, Lisbon, Baltic, Jewett City, East Great Plains, Laurel Hill FD, Mohegan Tribal FAST, Bozrah, & American Ambulance. Crews found heavy fire in the basement extending up to the upper floors. Engine and crews worked to try and bring the fire under control. After a couple hours, the fire was deemed under control and the investigation process was started by the Norwich FMO, Police and state FMO. The cause is still under investigation. No injured were reported. Side Note ** A fire occurred here on Saturday November 12, 1983 which the roof burned off the building. The incident is under invesgation.

brought two New Engines to S.E. New England.
One, to the Submarine Base Fire Department, in Groton Ct. 
The second, to Naval Station Newport RI.

Norwich 2nd Alarm + 05-04-17

Around 14:00 Norwich Fire was Dispatched to 50 Freeman Ave for a fire in an OMD. Crews found a fire on the first floor, Fire self vented as crews entered and with a slight wind condition,The fire intensified fast. Command requested a 2nd Alarm. Crews worked this fire for about 20 minutes, until conditions worsened. At this point Operations and Command decided to withdraw all companies, The worked the building with several hand-lines to knockdown visible fire. A report of a missing occupant truck 1 was directed to search the 3rd floor. As they searched conditions on the 2nd floor worsened, Truck 1 crew was ordered out of the building, Do to fire venting out below them on the rear porch, the FAST went to make sure they made it down before they where cut off. Command ordered crews out of the building, till it was brought under control later in the afternoon. The fire is under investigation
