First In






I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Taftville Ct, Trailer fire 09-11-24

 Just after 12am, Taftville fire with Auto aid from Norwich responded to 23 Hunters Rd Lot 15, for a reported fire in a mobile home. Eng 2 arrived to find an active kitchen fire, and was able to knock down the fire.Taftville laid in and stretched a backup line. The fire is under investigation.

Colchester Wet Down 09-07-24

 Colchester Fire Department, Ct. Celebrated the new apparatus, Pierce fire apparatus consisting of 3 Engines, 1 tower, (delayed arrival of the tanker) today with a wet down and celebration.

Norwich, Ct. 2nd Alarm. 08-21-24

 Around 22:40 Norwich fire with Yantic Eng 33 and EGPFD L-5, dispatched to 63 Alice St, for a reported garage fire, Engine 3 found fire showing from a single car attached garage and laid up the driveway. Crews kept the core of the fire confined to the garage, the fire was knocked down in about 10 mins.

Mystic Seaport, Fire festival 08-19-24

 Mystic Seaport, Fire festival Was held on Sunday 8-19. I arrived later in the day. The normal headliner (Firefighter, fireboat)  was sidelined, this year with major mechanical issues in RI.  Mystic fire held 3 demonstrations A high angle rescue, vehicle extrication and a structural fire. Mystic fire boat in attendance with it pumping and tours of the boat. The New England States Veteran Fireman's League (Handtubs) held the first event is many years in Ct. This year less Antique apparatus attend but still plenty to see.

Lebanon, Ct. Shed fire. 06-26-24

Lebanon, Ct. 06-26-24 Lebanon Fire and M/A was dispatched to 22 Reservoir Rd for a 20x40 2 story shed on fire, Ladder 126 arrived to find the building heavily involved and collapsing, Engine 128 arrived and laid in, As tankers arrived in the street, they set up water supply. The building was heavily damaged, with the exposure had heat damage.

Montville, Ct.Commercial Building fire 06-27-24

All Town of Montville stations and mutual aid was Dispatched to 152 Rt-163, for a Commercial Building fire. First due reported heavy smoke showing, from a large 1 story metal clad building 250x100. Crews places several lines in operation as several roll up doors had to be forced open. The building contents from the local scrap yard was knocked down in about 30 mins, Crew operated for a couple of hrs to remove the remaining material. The area has limited water supply, Tankers had been requested and 2 engine companies set up a draft in the small river behind the building.

Franklin Ct, Commecrial building multi alarm 06/24/24

Franklin, Ct. around 3am Franklin fire was dispatched to Pond Rd for wires down call, after arriving in the area 117 Pond Road, they discovered a building fire in the rear yard a large Commercial building on fire. Mutual aid was requested, as the fire intensified as companies arrived. A water supply via tankers was set up. The fire reached the propane tanks in the building and started to vent, the building had a large amount of chemicals, during this time, a large number of small and medium explosions accrued. Companies backed away from the building, just in time for one of the 30lbs tanks exploded and bounced off the rear of a tanker 200+' away. After the last explosion, crews regained control of the fire, they and worked for several hrs to bring the fire under-control. Local and State FMOs are investigating.

 Lisbon Ct, 06-07-24. 355 S Burnham Hwy, reported as an outside fire, then upgraded to a building fire. Crews found a rear of a garage on fire.

Norwich Ct, 2nd Alarm. 06-05-24

 Around 12am Norwich fire was dispatched to 3 Watercress Ave, for a reported fire in the dwelling, battalion 1 arrived to find a heavily involved dwelling (Vacant). At that time, Auto aid was requested. With poor water supply in the area a 2nd alarm was requested. Crew protected exposures as a 2nd supply line was laid-in. The main body was knocked-down in a hr, crew worked to bring it under-control for a few hrs. The FMO is investigating.

Taftville Ct, 12 Fontaine Court 03-31-24

 Taftville fire w/auto aide from Norwich was dispatched to 12 Fontaine Court around 19:30 for a dwelling fire, Car 20 arrived to find smoke showing, with a few minutes a basement fire was found and a working fire was declared.
