I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Plainville W/F+ 03/10/14

Plainville fire responded to 29 Carol Rd. for a reported house fire. The FM arrived and reported heavy fire from the basement, at 9:35 split-level single family dwelling . M/A was requested, crews work the fire and brought it under control. The FMO is investigating the cause.

8th District FD (Manchester, Ct) 2nd alarm+ 03-09-14

About 1500 hours the 8th District FD (Manchester, Ct) was dispatched to 39 Buckland St. for numerous calls reporting a structure fire in an apartment building. The 2nd alarm was struck as companies were still blocks away due to the smoke condition they drove through. Companies arrived to find fire venting out the rear of this 3 story (2 floors in front, 3 in the rear) wood frame apartment building with people evacuating. Mutual aid for another ladder company was requested on arrival. Once the tower ladder was put to work the fire was knocked down quickly. MFRE Truck 2, Engine 5, Car 22  and Vernon ET-241 assisted at the scene with other departments covering the stations.

Groton W/F Box plus, 03-01-14

Poquonnock Bridge fire and Subase E-62 was dispatched for a possible house fire a few buildings up from Crystal lake road at 09:10. N-62 Arrived at 694 Pleasant Valley Rd North, and found smoke showing and transmitted the working fire, at that time this brought in a Box plus assignment. A 1 3/4 line was stretched to the #2 floor, fire was found in the walls and burn though the ceiling on the 2nd floor. As other companies arrived, the placed a back-up line into the dwelling searched and vented the roof and windows. Crew did find two deceased pets. The fire was under control in about 15 mins. The FM is investigating the cause.

Mystic W/F 02-11-14

Around 09:15 Mystic fire was dispatched to 392 Noank Rd Working Fire, Crews found fire showing from the rear of a 2.5 story home. The fire was confined to sun porch and kitchen. NFI.

Gales Ferry (Ledyard) W/F 02-13-14

Around 07:40 Gales Ferry and Ledyard Fire was dispatched to Sleepy Hollow Rd for a garage fire. Due to GFFD being on an EMS call Subase Fire was started for an Extra Engine and FAST. R-2 arrived to find the garage fully involved with extension to a car.  N-62 arrived layed-in from the hydrant,  Firefighters from Subase and Gales Ferry placed several lines and a Deck gun in service. The main body of the fire was knocked down in a short time, Crews worked several hot spots until the incident was under control.








Bolton W/F 02-12-014

 Bolton fire responded to 31 Clark Rd at 12:11 hours on 2/12/14 for a possible structure fire. Members found fire in the wall behind the brickwork of the fireplace. The walls were opened and the fireplace was taken apart so the fire could be located and extinguished. Automatic mutual aid from Andover, Hebron and Manchester 8th district FD assisted at the scene.

Manchester car fire 02-06-14

Manchester, Ct. Engine 4 and Car 5 work this auto fire on Camp-meeting Rd just over the Bolton town line.






Waterford W/F 02-09-14

Waterford Fire dispatched a working fire for 11 Josan Dr in the Oswegatchie District around 16:00. A working fire was declared and M/A and two Fast Teams were added. Crews found heavy fire showing from the front door. Crews worked the dwelling for several hours to extinguish the hot spots.

Norwich W/F 02-01-14

Around 14:30 Norwich Fire was dispatched too 261 Boswell Ave, several calls of a house fire.  Engine 2 arrived to find fire showing from 1st floor. Crews went to work on the fire and it was under control in a few minutes.







Hartford car fire 01-31-14

At 11:05 Hartford fire was dispatched for a car fire on I84 E/B on the Bulkeley bridge. Eng-11 found a car heavily involved, The engine set-up for defensive area for the protection of the members operating on a LAH. In a short time the fire was undercontrol and they LAH was reopened.
