I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.
As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Around 20:00 Franklin and M/A was dispatched to 57 Eager Road, for fire in the rear of the home. First due reported fire from the C-D side of the home. As the engine arrived the fire had advanced across the basement and most of first floor. car 24 requested a 2.5 hand-line to the C-D side and a line to the front door. The Home is in a non-hydrant area and a tanker Task-force was dispatched to supply the water. The fire advanced and the dwelling sustained heavy damage. The FMO is investigating
Oakdale with M/A was dispatched to 498 Salem Turnpike (Rt-82) for a house fire. On arrival they found fire showing from "B" side of the home. After knockdown crews worked for about an hr to open up the hot spots and overhaul the building.
Around 14:40, Essex Fire was dispatched to 20 Town Dump Rd, for a building fire. First due found a active fire in a 100x150 building and requested M/A, Heavy fire conditions took hold of the building. Water supply was established from Hydrants and a water shuttle was set up from about 10-15 tankers. Two towers and several master streams operated for several hrs into the night. At this time crews are still operating. 23:00
Bridgeport fire responded to 215 Charles st for a car fire in a basement parking lot under a large condo building. They found several cars on fire with heavy smoke conditions. Crews were withdrawn from the building as the fire extended into the upper floors. after a few hrs fire broke out through the roof for the building. Crews worked the scene for most of the day. in the end around 100+ occupants were displaced. the fire is under investigation.
At 0303 hours Hartford, Ct was dispatched to Barbour & Judson St’s
for numerous calls reporting a row of store's on fire. Engine 7 arrived
reporting heavy fire showing. Engine 2’s deck gun and the tower ladders
made a quick knockdown.
Plainfield with multiple fire departments was dispatched to 155 Weston Rd. For a house fire. First due found a large frame dwelling with heavy fire conditions. With no water supply several thousand ft of supply line was laid, and about 16 tankers were used to supply water to several aerial devices to fight this fire. Companies worked this incident for several hours. The fire is under investigation.
Around 13:30 Lebanon Fire and M/A was dispatched to 521 Tobacco Street, for a Barn fire. First due officer reported a working fire in a 30x40 barn. Crews worked for several hours to extinguish the blaze. A tanker shuttle was set up for water supply with about 1000' foot lay up the driveway. The fire is under investigation. Full Set of Photos
I started in the fire service in 1985 with the Yantic Fire Engine Company #1. In 1991 I started a career with the Submarine Base Fire Department. During this time I found an interest photographing fire departments in action. Over this time my photos and videos have been published in the following, The New London Day, Norwich Bulletin, 1st Responder news papers / Fire House magazine, Fire Chief magazine (a cover Shot)/ Video work has been shown on Ch-8, Ch-3, TV show Code-3. I'm a member with Connecticut Fire Photographers. As you will see I have been running this site for several years now. During this time I have up-graded my equipment. I believe it's working out. So at this time I would like to thank all area fire departments in advance for access to your incidents.
