I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Chili's fire

February 27,2006 Around 21:45. Temp 15degs. Mohegan Fire Department responded for a building fire across the street from their fire station. Fire was showing from the roof of the building. The building is in the early stages of construction with all wood exposed. The bulk of the fire was knocked down with a deck gun then an interior attack with minor fire on the roof. Fire was under control in about one hour. Companies that responded. Mohegan, Montville, Oakdale and Mohegan Tribe.

FIRE FROM THE PAST

From time to time I will post photos from past events. Below, the first two are from Taftville Ct. The 3rd one is from Yantic.

Jan 5, 1995 Taftville responded two a 4 storty OMD and found heavy fire showing on the upper floors, Units Norwich, Occum and Yantic responded.

This photo was taken about 10 min's after arrival. E-22 & Ladder 1 in photo. This photo was published in FIREHOUSE magazine.

In this photo members from Taftville watch as deck guns and ladder pipes operate on the front of the building.

YANTIC

April 28, 1994 Yantic responded for a report of fire coming from the house Behind the norwich ten pin, Units found heavy fire in a vacant 2 story. It was determaned that the fire was an arson fire.

Sunday, Jan 29 news & info

3am. 61 Boswell Ave Norwich, 2nd alarm 3 story wood frame w/heavy fire on arrival. Fire extended to Exposure B&D, Main building destroyed exposure D had heavy damage. FDs on scene Norwich, Taftville & Moheagan tribe for FAST.

Now Back in CT as of Oct 2005

Even thou this is a new site, I just letting everyone know (warning LOL) that I'M BACK :)

2004 Moved again, Norfolk Naval Base

In 2004, I left the Midwest for a waterfront View in VA, The most boring job ever ARFF at an Heliport. But meet some great friends.

To all that know me, This is one of the departments that I worked for when I left the area in 2002
LT. Redford lights a controlled burn, A fun and interesting Day
I learned respect for grass fires on these days.

Later in the day a freak fire devil turned its self into a funnel cloud. Never started a tornado before!When you have too go!!!
