Around 15:50 Lebanon fire and M/A was dispatched to 84 Norwich Ave, for a reported barn fire. First due reported a heavily involved barn. Crews set up for exposure protection, as water supply was established, Tankers and a draft was established for water supply for this fire. NFI at this time.

I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.

Sterling 345 Main St. W/F 01-14-21
At 11:46 Sterling Fire with M/A was dispatched to a reported garage fire, attached to a home. Fire due arrived to find fire showing from the 1.5 story garage, and told ladder 67 To take the driveway. Crews pulled a 2.5" landline to begin fire attack. M/A companies assisted with fire attack as other arriving companies set up water supply from a near by stream. Contained the heavy damage to the garage, with minor extension to the dwelling. Crews had the main body knocked down in a short time.

Baltic, W/F 11-22-20
Baltic fire and M/A, was dispatched to, ST Mary's Rectory for a possible building fire, Car 24 arrived to find smoke showing from the rear of the building. The first engine stretched to the rear of the building and found the kitchen involved. The fire was knocked down with a few minutes of dispatch. NFI

Yantic, car fire 11-09-20
Around 15:30. Yantic Fire along with East Great Plan Fire was dispatched to N Wawecus Hill Rd for a reported car fire near the structure, Car 38 arrived to fire the engine compartment heavily involved, with heat damage beginning on the home. Engine 31 arrived next and place a 13/4 line in operation to knock down the fire before the next due arrived. The homes siding had minor damage.

Norwich, Ct. 2nd Alarm. 81 Corning RD 11-08-20
Norwich, Ct. 2nd Alarm. 81 Corning RD. Large metal-clad horse barn / garage around 05:45. Engine #2 found a well involved building on arrival, a 2nd alarm was called for 2nd water supply, do to poor pressure in the area and man-power. Command also requested, a level 1 hazmat response which added Squad 67 from the Subase. 11-08-20. NFI

Colchester 2nd Alarm Barn Fire 10-29-20
Around 11pm, Colchester fire and Yantic FAST, was Dispatched to 174 Chestnut Hill Rd, for a reported large barn, fire. Before arrival the 2nd alarm was requested, due to the report. First arriving unit found the barn heavily involved with partial collapse, crews stretched several lines about 300' to the rear of the home. While the water supply was established in the road. Due to the conditions on arrival this was a defensive fire. M/A on the 2nd alarm was companies from Bozrah Fire Department, Gardner Lake Vol. Fire Co., Hebron Fire Department, Oakdale Fire Department , Marlborough Fire Department,

Around 09:40 Montville fire was dispatched to Rand-Whitney corp on Rt-163, First arriving units found fire showing with fire on the roof. The fire was coming from a large vent piping from the side wall. Fire was also reported in the building, A working fire was declared and M/A was dispatched. At this time, NFI.

Poquonnock Bridge (Groton) Plane crash 08-17-20
Around 10:38 Groton fire Alarm dispatched Poquonnock Bridge fire department, Groton ambulance and Yale medics for a reported plane crash in the area of Ring Drive at Donna Drive. Once they arrived, it was reported as small plane into a house. PBFD requested an Submarine Base Engine 62 and Squad 67 (hazmat). Groton ambulance along with the medic worked on the injured. it was reported that all parties walked out of the structure. Fire department and Groton town PD searched the area for more victims and set up water supply. Once the area was cleared, and command requested officials from the town and airport authority. The Groton - New London airport fire department and Mystic River ambulance also respond.
