Norwich Fire, Ladder 5, and Engine 33 was dispatched to a reported dwelling fire, Before arrival a working fire was declared. Ladder 5 from EGPFD arrived to find fire showing from the 2nd floor rear. followed by Norwich units and Yantic's Engine 33. Reports of missing occupants was reported to the PD/FD and crews stretched in and began searched. Fire was advanced in the rear and was extending via drop down to the first floor and into the 3rd floor. A 2nd Alarm was requested. A mayday was declared and quickly cleared, this brought a 3rd alarm with a couple special calls. Crews worked for about an hr and the fire took hold of the 3rd floor and attic. Command evacuated the building and went defensive. Ladder 5 waterway was placed in operation as the roof collapsed. Several more hand lines had been placed in service until the majority of the fire was knocked down, then command, re-established interior operations again to knockdown the pockets of fire. Update: the fire has declared a fatal fire, Local and State FMO is investigating.
