Highland Park MI Box Alarm 10-29-10

A box was transmitted for Detroit to a building fire on Oakman BLVD near Lincoln St. Crews found a small fire on the 2nd floor of a large commercial building, Detroit fire started to work the fire as the chief arrived. Finding the fire to be in Highland Park. They requested Highland Park FD to respond. Being a very active night the chief had his department return into the city.

As we took this fire in, we noticed a building fire about one mile away, with fire showing from the 2nd floor. Once these crews cleared up they responded the 2nd fire. Photos to follow. We only stayed at this fire for about two minutes.

At 11:20 Detroit fire transmitted a Box Alarm for 1057 Casgram. First due crews encountered heavy fire from the 2nd floor A side of the dwelling with heavy smoke from the rear roof line. Several lines were placed into operation. The Arson Squad searched the lower floor and then questioned all spectators in the area. The fire was under control in about a 1/2 hour.

About 15min after leaving the fire at Harbough Detroit fire dispatched a Box for 4072 Cabet, a short distance down the road. We followed the glow in and arrived first due to find the front on a 1.5 story dwelling involved with a neighbor using a garden hose, trying to contain the fire. The winds were blowing and keeping a lot of the smoke and ash low as you will see in the photos. The ladder was first in and stretched a red line for exposure protection. The engine stretched in and attached the main fire. The fire was contained to the fire building.The Neighbor waves to the first in company to show the location of the fire.
