I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Merry Christmas 09

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Holyoke Ma. 3rd alarm 12-23-09

Holyoke, Ma had this 3 alarm fire at 103 Lyman St. The photos are about 2 hours after the start so not many pictures. Heavy fire spread the fire via the rear porches into several apartments.
Six people were taken to the hospital and three firefighters at one point were trapped inside as a fire started by a space heater destroyed a four-story tenement at 103-105 Lyman St. on Wednesday, Fire Chief David A. LaFond said.

Taftville W/F 12-23-09

Around 12:am, Taftville fire was dispatches to 55 south A street for a porch fire/possible structure fire ( smoke and fire visible from porch) on arrival Taftville command requested Yantic FAST team to the scene and Occum to standby in their quarters. TFD knocked down the fire with minor damage.

Norwich W/F 12-19-09

At 15:50 hrs city of Norwich responded to 110 Corning road for structure fire. Eng 2 first in reported working fire in basement of 2.5 story wood frame.The fire was knocked down fairly quick.

Sorry for the delay on the incidents over the last few weeks, But do to renovations to WHQ and the Holidays I fell behind. I'm still catching up. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Holidays. I only wish I had the time to relax over the last few weeks. Now it's time to get back to the easy work. I should of been in the empty seat below, with my Girl.

North Coventry 2nd Alarm, 12-15-09

North Coventry fire dept. responded to 141 Forge Rd, at about 0920 hours. Heavy fire in a 2 car garage of a 2 1/2 story wood frame. Mutual aid from South Coventry, Uconn Tower 122 as RIT, Andover, Tolland and Bolton.

Vice President Joe Biden, Visit to EHFD 12-11-09

Vice President Joe Biden and US Fire Administrator Kelvin Cochran paid a visit to East Hartford, Ct station 3 ( HQ) as part of putting America to work. The East Hartford FD received a federal stimulus grant to build a new replacement firehouse for Engine 5. Bozrah 2nd Alarm 12-18-09

Bozrah responded around 12:am to an local Egg farm for a reported coop fire along with several M/A departments, First due (me) found heavy fire conditions with collapse in the center of a vacant 300' x 50' hatchery building. The only exposures were some old trailers (no extension to them) The fire raced to both ends in a short time. The temp was around 14degs. 12 tankers were requested and filled from 3 different fill sites with in two miles into two dump sites. A ruff figure is over 100 tanker (tender) drops. The fire consumed the building in about 1hr and was brought under control in about 3hrs.

East Hartford W/F 12-05-09

East Hartford, Ct operated at this working fire at 15:04 hours at 12 Pine St. Numerous calls reporting a structure fire was the cue to go on the dispatch. City of Groton 12-11-09

City of Groton responded with M/A to 583 Thames St around 13:30. For heavy smoke in the area. upon arrival they found a one story garage with fire showing out the bay door. The fire was contained to the bay area.

East Hartford Multi alarm 12-07-09

East Hartford responded to 71 George Street a Warehouse. The found a fast moving fire taking hold of the building. In a short time command requested several alarms. The fire consumed the building in about 3hrs.
