I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.

Hartford 2nd alarm OMD 11-30-10

Hartford fire responded to 639 Broad St., about 1210 hours for this 2nd alarm fire. District 3 struck the 2nd on arrival due to heavy fire conditions. Access was tough due to alley ways in the area having steel fences and those with gates, most of them were welded shut. Members stretched lines through adjacent buildings. East Hartford W/F "with a lot of animal rescues" 11-30-10

East Hartford, responded to 356 O'Connell Dr., at 1002 hours for this house fire. First due, Ladder 2 reported smoke from the roof with fire in the living room. Members removed many cats and dogs from the residence. More pictures athttp://squadfirephotos.smugmug.com

Hebron, Basment fire 11-29-10

Hebron fire responded to a working basement fire at 105 Slocum Rd at 03:40 hrs. The found a active fire in the basement and had it under control in
about 15 mins. NFI

Southington, General Alarm 11-25-10

Southington fire responded to the end of Sabina Drive, Near Fire HQ around 12:20. Crews found heavy fire conditions. Crews commenced defensive operations to knock down the fire. The fire is under investigation.

Old Mystic, Box Plus 11-22-10

Old Mystic Fire responded to 5 Ann Drive for house fire at 12noon. Heavy fire was found and knocked down in mins, One occupant was found outside with 1st and 2nd degree burns, Later he was flown to Bridgeport burn center. NFI More photos at Jims flicker site

Taftville 3 Alarms, 11-20-10

Around 16:30, Taftville Fire Responded to 9-11 South "C" street for a building fire with numerous calls. Once the first officer arrived bystanders stated a occupant maybe in the 2nd floor apartment. M/A aid was requested, from Occum, Yantic and Mohegan Tribel for FAST. Crews searched the apartment and found it to be clear of the occupant. Crews stretched several lines and vented the building, The heavy fire was knocked down on the exterior of the building and several crews worked the three apartments. With the layout of the building the fire was a little stubborn but was under control in about and hour. Several units were requested for man-power do to the extensive overhaul. Lisbon and Baltic aided with the incident

The 8th Utilities District FD responded to I84 east bound near the Vernon town line for this auto fire at 1005 hours.

Manchester, Ct responded to 20 Lakewood Cir. N. for this small garage fire on 11/14/10 @ 1212 hours

Vernon W/F 11-13-10

Vernon, Ct operating at this 2nd alarm, at 78 Country Ln @ 0845 hours. Fire heavily involved this 1 story ranch on arrival of the fire department.

Franklin Pin Job 11-08-10

At 1855 hrs Franklin Fire was toned for 2 calls. 1 was for a medical the 2nd was for an MVA in the area of the Auction complex on Rt 32. The initial call reported a couple of cars vs a TT unit. The medical was given to Bozrah Fire per Car 225, as it was south of the accident scene. A Medic was started from American as precaution. Franklin Rescue 1 got to work quickly and extricated one pt from the vehicle that was hit by the TT unit. Extrication time was approx 10 min. Units stayed on scene for about an hour and a half.

Detroit MI, Still Alarm 10-29-10

Around 3:pm Detroit fire was dispatched 1 and 1 to a Still Alarm for a garage fire at 5575 Harvard near Chandler Park Dr. A header could be seen several miles out. Upon arrival the garage was fully involved with several exposures. Two red lines were stretched. After several mins, they added two inch and 1 3/4s were added to the fire. One for attach the 2nd for the now burning "D" side exposure garage. The fire was under control in about a hour.
This was the last fire of our trip. I will be posting Rig shots and some stations soon
