First In






I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Ledyard W/F 08-29-11

 Ledyard Fire responded to 412 Colonel Ledyard Highway for a fire in the home. First in companies requested a working fire response. Companies that responded Ledyard, Gales Ferry, Center of Groton C-71, Old Mystic FAST G-67 . NFI at this time.

Poquonnock Bridge fire responded to Poquonnock Road in front of Groton Pizza Palace, for a car vs. Hydrant. The car struck the hydrant hard enough to brake the line, causing minor flooding to the roadway.

City of Groton, 1st Alarm 08-17-11

City of Groton dispatched to 220 Meridian St for a kitchen fire, First due reporting heavy smoke from the building, upgrading it to a working fire. A first alarm was dispatched. Fire was showing from the rear of the building, G-11 (engine) layed up a privet drive too the top of a hill, as M/A arrived and helped with fire attack. Crews stretched hand-lines further up the hill to the rear of the house to gain access to the fire. Crews made quick knock down of the main body of fire and overhauled the building for about a hour. The fire is under investigation.

Montville W/F 08-09-11

Montville and Mohegan fire dispatched for a fire at The Nook Restaurant, 311 Norwich-New London Turnpike (Route 32), Initially dispatch of a possible fire on the roof. Fire due found smoke coming from the building. A working fire was declared by M-13. Crews found the fire in the roof area above the kitchen. During this time a General tone for all departments in Montville was dispatched, E-52 and  A Quaker hill engine was added. Mohegan Tribal (FAST) was placed to work and Subase C-21 was added as 2nd Due FAST. After about a hour the fire was placed under control. Heavy damage was contained to the roof area. The fire is under Investigation.
