First In






I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Norwich 2nd alarm+ 10-23-19

Around 15:05; Norwich Fire, was dispatched to 31 Bentley Ave for a reported dwelling fire, Dispatch updated Battalion 1 of power lines down in the street and a possible occupant in the building. Battalion 1 arrived and reported fire showing on the A side.Engine 3 stretched in and began fire attack, as the truck split up and searched and one went too the roof. SqA and Engine two assisted with several fire ground duties, (search, water supply and 2nd and 3rd hand lines.) The fire spread to the upper floor and attic space before being brought under control. The 2nd and 3rd alarm companies were brought into the scene for man-power. Unfortunately this fire has been declared a fatal fire. More info can be found in the local paper. The fire is under investigation by NFD, NPD and the state fire marshals offices.

Taftville W/F+ 10-20-19

Around 08:20 Taftville fire was dispatched to 149 Old Canterbury Turnpike, for a report of fire coming from the roof. First due officer found an active fire on the 2nd floor coming from the rear of the dwelling. Around this time car 2 requested Occum and one Engine from Yantic. Due to hydrant pressure two tankers were added to the incident. Crews stretched lines to the 2nd floor from the street as the tower positioned on the driveway. One occupant was walked out of the building before arrival. The fire was brought under control in about 20 mins. Additional apparatus responded, Mohegan Tribel Fast, Baltic + Lisbon Tankers and and extra engine from Yantic.

New London W/F 10-01-19

New London Fire was dispatched to 123 Ashcraft RD, for smoke coming from the dwelling. Crews found light smoke from the home, and searched for the cause of the fire. Crews found a fire in the walls, and controlled the fire in a short time.







 

Yantic MVA 9-17-19

Yantic Fire was dispatched to West Town St and the 395 off ramp for a MVA involving a Bus. 
PD upgraded the calls location to the lot of Global gas station, by ACE. The MVA ended up being a fatal MVA, NFI
