First In






I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Baltic Mill Fire 4-23-18

Around 14:30 Baltic and M/A responded to 29 Bushnell Hollow Rd., for a report of a building fire that was under demolition. Car 24 arrived and found active fire on the 2nd floor of the vacant 5 story mill 100x400, at the time a 2nd alarm was started. With 10-20 mile winds the fire ran the building, During this time the 3rd and 4th alarms w/special calls were requested. While companies arrived, on the 1st and 2nd alarm assignment, several spot brush fires broke out, Some companies were redirected to them. One vacant building on the hill was found with a minor fire on the roof also. During the first hr, fire spread to a 2nd vacant building on the former mill complex. About 2 hrs into the fire the Northern section, collapsed. Crews worked late into the night and  returned the next day for hot spots. Its been reported that workers in the building discovered the fire, while working near the area.

The Brush fire consumed close to 13 acres with the large one totaling 11.5 acres, for this fire, several request for brush trucks and tankers were add. Crews from New London County and Windham County responded. The FMO is investigating.

Griswold W/F 04-15-18

Around 13:00 QV dispatched Griswold and M/A to 173 Brewster Rd for a reported basement fire. First arriving unit reported heavy smoke from the building, then fire was found on the first floor extending to the 2nd floor. Crew work the fire for over hour, in confined pockets of the dwelling. Several lines were placed in operation. the home was heavily damaged by the fire. The fire is under investigation by the FMO.

New Britain, 2nd Alarm 3-23-18

New Britain, Ct had this 2nd alarm at 209 Maple St on 3/23/18 at 06:15. Mutual aid responded to the scene and covered their stations. More pictures on my site. www.squadfirephotos.com






Norwich 3rd Alarm, 03-22-18

Around 15:30 Norwich fire dispatched city units to Boyd's Auto Salvage yard at 133 Corning RD., for a reported structure fire, a machine on fire. With in a minute heavy black smoke could be seen 20 miles away. First arriving company, encounter have fire conditions in the area behind the main office building. Over the event a 2nd and 3rd alarms,w/tankers was requested, for water supply do to the water system with low pressure. Crews worked the fire for a few hrs, which involved a workshop and at least 30 vehicle's. The fire is under investigation. NFI












Hartford, 2nd Alarm 3-18-18

Hartford, Ct north end companies had this 2 alarm fire at 02:04 on 3/18/18. Members arrived at 67 Charlotte St., to find heavy fire on all floors.
