First In






I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Hartford 2nd Alarm 10-20-13

Hartford, Ct responded to 19 Colebrook St at 14:58 hours for a report of a structure fire. Ladder 4 arrived and reported heavy fire showing from  floor #1. Soon after arrival, companies were advised of an occupant trapped. With heavy fire on floor #1 and extending up companies were attempting searches when Ladder 3 noticed the male in the window of the attic (floor #3) and were able to rescue him using the bucket of their tower ladder. With fire condition's in the house getting worse, a 2nd alarm was transmitted. The occupant and two firefighters were transported to the hospital for unknown type injuries.  With this fire and another report of a structure fire in the city mutual aid was requested  to cover the city.

Taftville W/F 10-16-2013

At 19:27hrs - Taftville fire was dispatched to 367 Mohegan Park Rd, for smoke coming from a apartment above a garage. Car-2 arrived and reported smoke showing and add 2 engines from Yantic, 1 from Occum. Crews found a active fire in the building and knocked it down, Fire was found fire running the walls and to the attic. After a short time the fire was under control. The incident is under investigation.

Manchester 4th Alarm 10-12-13

At 21:30, Manchester fire was dispatched to 801 Main Street for smoke in the building. - "Manchester Mall". Car 22 reported smoke from the rear of the building and transmitted a working fire for a basement fire. Crew made a interior attack. but do to the construction the fire jumped floors, over the next few hrs command transmitted 2nd, 3rd and 4th alarms. Crew worked all night to contain the fire to the building of origin.

Hartford W/F 10-08-13

Hartford fire transmitted a 10-3 (working fire) for 255 Jefferson Street Smoke showing from 2nd floor at 1023 hours. The fire was located in a 3 story wood frame vacant.

Tolland 2nd Alarm + 09-11-13

Tolland Fire was dispatched to 11 White Birch Dr., for a house fire around 13:00. First due found Smoke showing and 2nd alarm on arrival. Several tankers were requested with some special calls for equipment and man-power. Heavy fire consumed the home. The fire is under investigation. NFI

Norwich W/F 08-23-13

Norwich Fire was dispatched to 56 N Main St. via a Norwich Police Officer reporting smoke coming from the residence, with the possibility of people still inside. The officer gained entry and found an occupant getting ready to jump out the window. The officer guided the male occupant to safety. Engine 2 arrived and found a kitchen fire to the rear of the building. The fire was under control in a short time and is under investigation.

New London, General Alarm 08/21/13

New London Fire was dispatched to 128 State St for several reports of a building fire with alarm sounding. Smoke was showing from the 4th floor of an 4 story brick apartment building. Crews found an active fire in one apartment, during the search they found the fire had extended to the cock-loft and roof area, over the next few hrs a 2nd, 3rd and a general alarm was transmitted. Several M/A departments responded to the fire and covered the city and surrounding towns. Several firefighter were treated for minor injuries and heat related problems. The crews worked the void and roof spaces for several hours to locate all the hot spots. The fire is under investigation.
