First In






I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

East Hartford 3rd Alarm 10-04-14

East Hartford fire worked this 3rd alarm at 15 Bell Ct. at 06:30. Members made numerous rescues via ground ladders with people jumping as well. 5 civilians were transported to local hospitals.

Bozrah Container Fire 10-06-2014

Bozrah fire, Responded to 1 Polly Lane, for a reported trailer fire, upon arrival they found a shipping container with the exterior, with burn damage with light smoke coming from the door. Once a line was in place and charged, then the crew opened the container. A minor smoke condition was found with no visible active fire. They cooled the contents and the metal container before entering and overhauling the foam contents. The fire is under investigation by the FM.

Hebron 3rd Alarm 09-20-14


Hebron fire and M/A worked this 3rd alarm fire at 15:19 hours. The fire was located up a very long driveway at 324 Jaggar Ln. Many mutual aid tankers were used for water supply.

East Hampton W/F 09-19-14

Around 10:00 East Hampton fire was toned for a explosion and house fire on Ola Ave. At this time Marlboro, Colchester and East Haddam were dispatched due to East Hampton was working a fire in Portland. Crews found a house fully involved after the propane tanks exploded.The home was heavily damaged and the fire is under investigation.

Taftville, W/F 2nd Trailer fire 09-19-14

About 15hrs later  Taftville fire was dispatched at18:00 to 303 Mohegan Park road, for a ice cream truck on fire, as TFD was responding dispatch received several calls reporting it now as a trailer (mobile home) fire. At that time command added Occum and 1 engine from Yantic. Car 20 arrived to find a heavily involved van and heavy fire in one end of the trailer. Crews brought the fire under control in about 30 mins. The fire is under investigation. This house was a few doors away from the first fire.



Taftville, W/F 09-19-14

03:23hrs Taftville fire was dispatched 303 Mohegan Park Rd - Little Valley Mobile home park for a building fire.   Car-2 arrived on scene 1st mobile home 80% involved with an exposure starting to burn. Car 2 requested Occum's 2 engines and 1 from Yantic. The fire was under control within 30 minutes. Cause under investigation. No injuries reported

Manchester 2nd Alarm 09-11-14

Manchester fire responded to 54 chestnut St they found smoke showing from the upper floor, Crews found an active fire and requested a 2nd Alarm. In about 30 mins the fire was knocked down and Command requested the state bomb squad  and the state fire marshal office.

Hartford fire transmitted a 2nd alarm for 75 N Beacon St around 23:40.

New Haven 2nd Alarm 08-25-14

Around 18:10 A fire alarm came in then followed by a call staff with reporting heavy smoke in the basement At 18:15 Hew Haven fire Transmitted a working fire for Delanys Pub, 800 block of Whalley ave.  2 wood E-9 to all units use caution wire's arching on central ave side of the building . Do to the energized basement and fire conditions command with drew all personnel for the building. Heavy fire took hold of the building and over a few hrs the building collapsed.

Norwich W/F 08-24-2014

Around 1pm Norwich Fire was dispatched to 262 Main St., the Salvation Army building once on scene a working fire was declared, Crews encountered heavy smoke in the building and in a short time located the fire. Fire damage was confined to the 1st floor rear. Norwich FMO is investigating.NFI

Occum (Norwich) W/F 08-11-14

Just before 18:00 Occum and Taftville Fire departments were dispatched to 36 Nashua St (a Trailer Park). For a reported structure with smoke and fire showing. First officer on scene transmitted a working fire. They found active fire in the trailer and void space below the roof. Crews placed lines in operation and Vented the roof to control the fire. In a short time the fire was under-control. The fire is under investigation.
