First In






I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Detroit MI, Box Alarm 11-01-11. Gratiot and Fair crest

Detroit fire responded too Gratiot Ave and Faircrest St. for a 2nd fire in the dwelling in 24hrs. The first was in the morning of the 31st. the fire was in the 2nd floor wall and attic area. Crews used foam and overhauled the fire in a shorttime.



Detroit MI, Box Alarm 10-31-11.

About a hour after the last fire cleared about two mile south on Gratiot on the corner of Conner. A box was transmitted for a dwelling fire. Once we rolled out of the parking lot we could see the header. We arrived just after the engine dumped the monitor on the first floor. Crew stretched lines and the truck went to the roof to open up. The full 1st floor was involved at one time. Crews worked the dwelling for about 30 mins to bring the fire under control.






Detroit MI, Pole fire turns into Box Alarm 10-31-11.

 While sitting a the CVS parking lot I noticed smoke though the tree line down the road, We head in that direction, As we turned the corner Detroit dispatched engine 46 for a pole fire. We noticed fire showing from the 2nd floor of a dwelling. The neighbors were Calling 911, Paul told them to make sure they know it was a house fire not a pole on fire. The response was delayed do to local company on a 30 min rehab from a earlier fire. Just as engine 46 arrived, the fire pushed out the C side window and started the exposure dwelling on fire. For the first 10mins 4 firefighters controlled two fire at the sometime. The rest of the assignment arrived and helped with overhaul.

Detroit MI, Box Alarm 10-30-11. Indian dale & 14th

 While Units were operating at the Waverly location one block away this fire at 14th and Indian dale for a 2nd floor fire. A Box Alarm assignment was dispatched.

Detroit MI, Box Alarm 10-29-11. Waverly & 14th

Detroit fire dispatched a Box for the area of Waverly and 14th, units found a 2.5 story vacant with active fire on the first floor extending up and out of the building to exposure "B". Crews as always made a quick knockdown of the main body of fire and worked to control the fire in the exposure building. As we arrived a fire one block over was braking out. Several buffs reported this too command and a 2nd box was transmitted to this location. The next Detroit post will be that fire.




Detroit MI, Still Alarm 10-30-11.

 Detroit fire responded to Allen Dale for a Still Alarm for a reported garage fire. First arriving found a full involved garage behind a vacant home. With no extension to the home a engine and truck extinguished what was left of the garage.

East Hartford MVA w/pin 10-27-11

East Hartford responded to Rt-2 at exit 5 off ramp for a rollover down the embankment, in the pouring rain at1300 hours



Detroit MI, Box Alarm, 9119 Keller

Detroit Fire was dispatched to 9119 Keller  for a dwelling fire first due found a a 2.5 story vacant dwelling with the porch and first floor going extending up to the 2nd floor and attic. The front porch collapsed, which limited access to the building. The fire was under control in about 30 mins.

Detroit MI, Box Alarm 10-29-11. 3600 Nottingham

Detroit fire was dispatched to Nottingham and Mack for a apartment building fire. First due stretched on the building and the chief gave a working fire in a four flat. The fire was active on the 3rd floor with extension into the attic. Crews worked the fire for about 40 mins.
