Worcester 5th Alarm 03-05-09

Worcester fire struck a 2nd alarm on arrival at 167 Pleasant St around 3:40, by 4:40 it had reached a 5th due to heavy fire conditions on floor # 3 & 4. Several civilians were removed over ladders in the early stages of the fire and 3 firefighters were injured with minor burns and other non life threatening injuries when floor # 3 flashed over during what was one of several futile attempts at interior attack. Shortly after going into defensive mode, the roof and part of the #4 floor collapsed. The Church on the D side had hand lines stretched to the steeple when a small fire ignited at the tip.
