First In

I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.

As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

As of July 2017, my site has had 319000 hits thanks for viewing. If you keep coming I will keep posting. First time visitors for older post click on the month links right side.

Mystic MVA with pole down. 08-20-2010

Mystic Fire responded to West Main St at the Drawbridge. Around 19:30, for a tractor trailer that backed into a utility pole with a transformer, the pole snapped and a small fire started. Power was out in down town for several hours.

F.D. Chief Hilbeat went on record to say "no fault of the Truck Driver." The Truck Driver was not cited by Police for the accident. The Tractor Trailer never struck the utility pole or the curb, the pole snapped off at the top well above the Trailer height and struck the top left side of the Trailer. The pole was quite old, top heavy, and braced, the 'guide line' was too low from pole to curb with fasteners which were within tire to bumper turning radius of any vehicle. There were no injuries at all, not a scratch. There was no damage to any vehicle or personal property. There was no diesel spillage. The D.E.P. and HazMat had the transformer liquid cleared from West Main Street sometime after 1:30 a.m. The Tractor Trailer was cleared and driven away.
