Around 9am Willimantic fire was dispatched to 1163 Main St for a building fire. All companies where on other calls, The truck and engine responded from Church St incident. The ambulance was tied up on a ALS ambulance run. Fire was found on the 2nd floor of a 3 story mixed occupancy, with reported jumpers and one person hangout of the window next to the fire.
A passing roll off garbage truck was placed into service to back under the window so the occupant could jump to a closer object. The 2nd due truck, UCONN was directed to remove the injured person from the back of the truck.
Willimantic arrived during this, with low staffing due to the other ambulance call, they placed a line is service helped with the rescues, and brought the fire under control as M/A companies arrived.
