First In

I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.

As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Norwich, Ct. 3rd Alarm+. 39 Otis St. 04-10-25

Norwich Fire, Ladder 5, and Engine 33 was dispatched to a reported dwelling fire, Before arrival a working fire was declared. Ladder 5 from EGPFD arrived to find fire showing from the 2nd floor rear. followed by Norwich units and Yantic's Engine 33. Reports of missing occupants was reported to the PD/FD and crews stretched in and began searched. Fire was advanced in the rear and was extending via drop down to the first floor and into the 3rd floor. A 2nd Alarm was requested. A mayday was declared and quickly cleared, this brought a 3rd alarm with a couple special calls. Crews worked for about an hr and the fire took hold of the 3rd floor and attic. Command evacuated the building and went defensive. Ladder 5 waterway was placed in operation as the roof collapsed. Several more hand lines had been placed in service until the majority of the fire was knocked down, then command, re-established interior operations again to knockdown the pockets of fire. Update: the fire has declared a fatal fire, Local and State FMO is investigating.
