I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.
As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Vernon fire, responded to 72 Lynwood Dr. at 0111 hours for a structure fire. On arrival they had a working basement / crawl space fire. A quick knockdown by members even though the small staircase collapsed when tested for stability prior to members going down. This area of Vernon gets an automatic mutual aid response from Bolton FD and a request was also made for Tolland to respond with Tanker 140. No injuries to members. At 0040 hours Hartford, Ct responded to this 2nd alarm at 145 Clark St for a report of a M/C on fire to the rear of the building. Before Engine 7 left quarters (4 doors down the street) people were banging on the firehouse door reporting a building fire. On Engine 7's arrival they had heavy fire on 3 floors in the rear of the building. Firefighters made quick stop on this fire in a 3 story wood frame apartment building. Around 20:30, Norwich Fire was dispatched to 20 Palmer St. for a house on fire, Reported from home owner that just arrived home. Battalion 1 arrived and confirmed a working fire and had Eng-2 lay in. Lines were stretched and knocked down visible fire on the 2nd floor, as the truck and a engine vented the building. A flash over accrued on the 2nd floor "D" side porch area, worked it way to the 3rd floor center "A" side window. Crews were evacuated at this time. The visible fire was knocked down as fire fighters regrouped and worked the fire, after a little while the fire took hold of 3nd floor and a 2nd evacuation was given, at this time they went defensive with Eng-2 deck gun and tower-1. A wall was weekend and collapsed on the 3rd floor. The fire is under investigation.
1:am Oakdale fire along with M/A responded to 430 Chapel Hill Road, Oakdale Pizza for a building fire. On arrival they found a strip mall with heavy smoke and fire showing. Command requested extra alarms with a request for tankers. The fire destroyed several business in the strip mall water was shuttled into the area. August 28th Some friends and I made apparatus Photo trip a day of visiting a few fire departments for a photo shoot of some of the newer apparatus in New London County. This is a preview of some of the apparatus that maybe in the Connecticut state convention parade on the 19th of this month in New London. Mystic Fire responded to West Main St at the Drawbridge. Around 19:30, for a tractor trailer that backed into a utility pole with a transformer, the pole snapped and a small fire started. Power was out in down town for several hours.
Mohegan and Montville fire along with tribal FAST responded to 51 Park Ave Ext. for house fire. Water supply became a issue and Tankers were requested at that time Mohegan tribal was put to work and Subase FAST was requested to the scene. The home had several additions and void spaces which made extinguishing the fire difficult. The fire is under investigation.
At 18:20 hours East Hartford, Ct. responded to 992 Oak St for this fatal working fire. Members made a quick knockdown on this first floor fire. One occupant was able to escape prior to FD arrival. More pictures @. http://squadfirephotos.smugmug.com
Today this site reached 200.000 Hits/views, world wide. With 500+ incidents dating back to 2006. I would like to thank you all for coming back to keep me going with this site. I would also like to thank all the correspondents and my notification net work to help with the site. I hope to keep this site and my 2nd site (all my photos from incidents) going for sometime. I started in the fire service in 1985 with the Yantic Fire Engine Company #1. In 1991 I started a career with the Submarine Base Fire Department. During this time I found an interest photographing fire departments in action. Over this time my photos and videos have been published in the following, The New London Day, Norwich Bulletin, 1st Responder news papers / Fire House magazine, Fire Chief magazine (a cover Shot)/ Video work has been shown on Ch-8, Ch-3, TV show Code-3. I'm a member with Connecticut Fire Photographers. As you will see I have been running this site for several years now. During this time I have up-graded my equipment. I believe it's working out. So at this time I would like to thank all area fire departments in advance for access to your incidents.
