First In

I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.

As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Westerly W/F 04-07-09

Around 16:15 hrs, Westerly fire was dispatched the box assignment for Box4133 IAO #10 Pearl St. for several telephone calls for smoke from floors 2 & 3 of a 2.5 story wd/frm omd. On arrival Car 31 confirmed a working fire and confirmed no entrapment as also had been reported. Crews went to work with an interior attack while Ladder 1 set up on the "B" side of the bldg. Balloon frame construction soon prevailed and crews were pulled out due to the overhead spread of the fire. Man-power was requested from Pawcatuck which brought 2 Engines and 8-10 fresh bodies.
After about an hour with the roof 2/3rds of the way gone as well as ceilings in various sized piles throughout the upper floors, an extensive overhaul operation was started. The fire is under investigation
