First In

I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.

As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Yantic 2nd Alarm 11-12-09

Around 17:00 Yantic responded to 91 Lafayette St for a reported house fire. The chief arrived and found a heavy fire in the rear section of a true 1.5 story wood frame. A one story addition for the kitchen was fully involved extending up the outside of the house. Winds around 10-20 mph were coming in to the rear pushing to the front. Smoke was banked down to the street. The first firefighter arrived to find two civilians pulling the occupant from the front door and assisted them, then started CPR. The chief had the first due engine pull two exposure lines after confirming that she was the only resident. One house was about 8ft away (3 decker) and its siding was starting to melt, as the lines were being pulled 2nd due engine was directed to attack the fire and the main body of fire was knocked down fairly quick even with "Colliers Mansion" condition inside, extra man power was requested with overhaul. . According to the paper the occupant succumbed to injuries.A cell phone shot about 25mins into the incident. For first due shot click here. I will post any I find.
