I welcome you to my blog site; I hope to show you the fire service in NLC in some interesting events. During the next few years, I will improve on the content and photos to keep you coming back for more. I take pride in my photography and try my best to be first in when possible. The majority of the photos will be from the Norwich companies & surrounding area departments, but sometimes I Buff out of state cities for a change of pace.



As of late I have missed or worked a lot of the incidents. I have a great support group of Photographers to help the site keep up with all the incidents. There are too many to list, So thanks for your support. Thanks for visiting and enjoy .RD Ladd

Norwich Multi Alarm Mill Fire 04-27-10

Norwich Fire responded around 03:00 to Capehart mill for a confirmed building fire. As Engine 2 left they station across the street. The called for a 2nd alarm with fire through the roof. As the night went on command requested 5 ladders and or towers to the scene. A task-force of ladders was brought into the city if the fire extend to the next section. Several pumpers laid in from hydrants or drafted from the river. The building condition before the fire was very poor and firefighters could not enter any section of the building. During the next two days hot spots flared up and extinguished by Norwich and Taftville fire departments. In all 18 different departments were involved during the fire. The fire is under investigation by Norwich, State and Federal FMOs
